Exercise To Stop Snoring
Exercise to stop snoring can be a matter of spending a few minutes each day performing some mouth movements and sounds.
You may experience some quick initial improvement in snoring, with further improvement over time.
These exercises are similar to those used by professional singers when preparing for a performance. They reduce nasal congestion which can limit air flow and cause tissues to vibrate, resulting in snoring. Exercises can also strengthen mouth and throat muscles so that the tongue will not collapse into the airway during sleep, which also causes snoring.
Eight stop snoring exercises
(There are lots of private places you can do these exercises if you feel silly doing them in public.)
1. Stretch out your tongue as far as you can, while keeping it straight. Next, move it far to the right and then over to the left. See if you can touch your nose and then your chin, with your tongue. Don't worry if you can't quite touch them - it's the trying that counts. Do this 10-20 times.
2. Pretend you are chewing gum with your mouth closed, while making a humming sound in your throat. Repeat for 10 seconds. This exercise can relieve tension in the throat and jaw muscles.
3. Pretend you are yawning. This helps to open the throat.
4. Move your upper and lower molar teeth together gently, then apart without stretching. If you do this for 3-5 minutes, you should notice the back of your mouth opening more.
5. Make an exaggerated smile and hold it for five seconds, then relax. Do this five times.
6. Pucker your lips as if to blow a kiss. Hold the pucker for five seconds and do this five times.
7. Grip a pencil between your teeth for up to five minutes (this should not be painful).
8. Pretend you are sipping from a straw and hold for five seconds, then relax. Repeat five times.
These are the sorts of exercises professional singers do, and they can greatly reduce your snoring. Of course, you may need to take other anti snoring measures to completely eliminate your snoring.
